Fara McCrady

Yoga Instructor, RYT-200

As a fitness enthusiast, Fara first experimented with yoga to compensate for muscle tightness.  She dropped in and out of yoga classes for many years and found them to nicely balance her active lifestyle.   Upon discovery of Bikram yoga and more vigorous vinyasa practices, she realized that yoga could be a stand-alone physical workout, instead of an accompaniment to exercise.  Time spent in the yoga studio and exposure to many great yoga teachers eventually helped her to understand, and to feel, the benefits of yoga that go far beyond the physical.

To further her personal practice and her understanding of yoga, Fara completed Dorje Yoga 200 hour teacher training with Jessie Fletcher.  She was surprised to find that she loved teaching as much as she enjoyed practicing.  Fara believes that teaching and practicing are beautiful complements, each inspiring the other.  She continues her yogic journey by participating in workshops and advanced teacher trainings.  Fara completed a 100 hour teacher training with the Maha Vidya Yoga School in New Hampshire and will finish a 300 hour Advanced Dorje Yoga teacher training in 2017.

In a class with Fara, expect to see sequencing that is designed to impact all major muscle and joint compounds, challenge personal expectations, and increase proprioceptive awareness in space. Emphasis is placed on the development of safe practices that are sustainable throughout the life span.  Fara strives for each student, regardless of experience, to grow stronger and move his or her practice forward.  Most importantly she believes yoga should be fun and hopes to inspire students to open themselves up to the possibilities that exist within each class.

Fara completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Child Psychology at The Ohio State University.  She taught psychology classes at Ohio State and Kennesaw State Universities.  Fara also conducted research on anxiety and depression, childhood bereavement, and adult/juvenile sexual offending before relocating to Marietta in 1998.  She lives with her husband and three children and enjoys biking, playing tennis, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
